One of the outstanding characteristics needed for baking pans to become a good bakeware is good conduction of heat and not just to conduct heat but to do it evenly producing well-baked products such as cakes, cupcakes and muffins. But even if this is so, there are still other metal tins used but are reactive with acids, therefore this is another factor to consider. Most manufacturers of baking pans found these two features characterized in aluminum bakewares and so utilized this material in the production of aluminum sheet pan.

Because aluminum is a lightweight metal, it is considered one of the substances that conduct heat well. It does not readily act with iron; therefore it does not easily form rust and resist corrosion. Since it is a very malleable metal, it is soft, flexible and pliable which makes it easily formed into different shapes. It is this characteristic that is utilized and thus made aluminum the major material used in the manufacture of aluminum sheet pans. It is spun or stamped to form it into several shapes, plus can be found in half size or full size. Because of its softness, it is easily combined with other metals to form alloys with magnesium, copper or bronze to increase its strength. It is commonly used for making cookie sheets, pie pans, and muffin pans, as well as the pots and pans commonly used in cooking.

Baked products are prepared in special baking tins and most of these are made of aluminum and its alloys. They are commonly made into bakeware muffins, cake pans and tube pans, bread loaf pans and rectangular pans, as well as aluminum sheet pans or cookie sheets. All of these baking tins are designed to be used inside an oven. Some of these tins have rolled wire reinforced in its rim for more durability and some have steel rims encapsulated to prevent the pans from warping. Others are equipped with over-sized edge for easy placement and removal in and out of the oven. However, these tins should be hand washed to prevent denting and scratching.

With these common but smart features found in aluminum sheet pans, baking of pies, pastries, cakes, and rolls are evenly cooked and browned avoiding unnecessary worry and stress of scorching and sticking of the baked products.
