Baking is considered one of the most enjoyable activities in the kitchen especially when the right tools, equipments and bakeware are used. These are not the only concerns because several factors such as size and shape of the bakeware as well as its depth and diameter are also taken into consideration. Whether one is making rolls, cakes, pastries, cupcakes, muffins, bread and pies, one should use the proper bakeware and also choose the right material for the bakeware. Different materials are utilized for making them and each of the baked products work best with a certain make of the baking pan. In the case of pies, the best material for baking it is aluminum pie pan.
Aluminum is the material used in most bakewares as it is a good conductor of heat and it brings out heat evenly to the baked product, making the baking uniform. Pies need a good amount of even heat and this is offered by the use of aluminum pie pan. Pie dough or pastry recipe is used in baking pie crusts and a uniform amount of heat is needed to make them evenly cooked or baked. Because aluminum does not easily rust and corrode, fillings placed in pies where ingredients can sometimes be acidic does not react with it. Aluminum is a lightweight, soft and pliable metal therefore it can be shaped easily into designs and forms depending on baker’s specifications.
Sometimes, pies need to be baked in special pans with special designs, like baking bake ware muffins, aluminum pie pans or plate can easily be made into these desired designs. It can be alloyed with magnesium, copper and bronze to make it sturdier and strong and is therefore durable when made together with these elements. Because of this, pies baked from this pan come out beautifully and whole as the aluminum pans used in making it are not easily dented and warped. There are also baking pans made of anodized aluminum that does not react with acidic food and do not render off-flavors and off-taste to the product. For even baking, especially for uniform browning of pies, high quality and heavy gauge aluminum pie pan should be used since it is durable, will not rust and will not react with the acids present in the ingredients used for the fillings of pies.
